Picture frames are more than just a decorative border around a photo or artwork. They serve an important purpose in protecting and preserving the items inside. And when it comes to special or sentimental items, a custom picture frame is the best option to ensure they are preserved and displayed in the best possible way.

One of the key advantages of custom picture frames is that they are tailored to the specific dimensions and needs of the item being framed. This allows for a perfect fit, ensuring that the item is held securely and protected from dust, dirt, and damage. Custom frames can also be designed to complement the style and aesthetic of the item, enhancing its overall appearance.

In addition to custom fit and design, using conservation materials in the framing process is also important for the preservation of the item. Conservation glass, for example, filters out harmful UV rays that can fade or discolor the item over time. It also reduces glare, making it easier to view the item without damaging its surface. Conservation mats, which are used between the item and the glass, are made of acid-free materials that won't damage the item over time.

While many people opt for mass-produced picture frames and materials, supporting a local picture framer with experience in framing and visual art has several advantages. A local picture framer will have a deep understanding of the framing process and the best materials to use for different types of items. They can provide personalized advice and guidance on how to best protect and display your item.

Furthermore, supporting a local framer helps to support the local economy and preserve the skills and craftsmanship of traditional picture framing. A local framer who is also a visual artist will have a unique perspective and creative approach to framing, which can add an extra level of artistry and beauty to the finished product.

In conclusion, custom picture frames and conservation materials are important for the preservation and display of special or sentimental items. Supporting a local picture framer with experience in framing and visual art ensures that your items are framed with the utmost care and attention to detail. The end result is a beautiful, protected, and preserved piece that can be enjoyed for years to come.
